Growing in Unity 2025 Day 1

Hi Everyone! I'm so excited to be this week's Growing in Unity gal! This is my first time being the GIU creator. Check out the Growing in Unity - Card-making/Rubberstamping and Unity {show & tell} Facebook pages, my Instagram, and this blog for pictures and info on what I've created! I'll be posting a new card each day. What's extra fun is if you comment on my post in any of these platforms, you have a chance to win a $20 gift credit to Unity Stamp Co.! Two winners will be randomly selected.

Now on to my first card of the week. I decided to use the Rise Up Darling stamp set. I love the details in this stamp! I had a vision of rising up from difficult times to create beauty.

I stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink onto white cardstock. After letting it dry, I did some watercoloring with various watercolor mediums including some Spectrum Noir Tri-Color Aqua markers I found in my stash from a previous Crop & Create class I had yet to use. I decided to give them a try. Admittedly they didn't move and blend as I'm used to with watercolor mediums. It could have been I wasn't using watercolor paper. I added in some Distress watercolor pencils as well.

After the image dried, I cut it out with one of the Brass & Bliss Nested Circle Scallop dies. I decided to use the edge of a border die to cut the circles into quarters. I added some Glossy Accents to the center of the flower and the black splatters.

For the background panel, I used paper from the Opulent Blooms and Calico Country paper packs. I thought the tangerine color complimented the flower nicely. Additionally, the splatters/worn look in the striped paper went along with the splatters in the stamped image. I layered the tangerine paper onto the striped paper

To create my vision of rising up, I used various amounts of foam to give each quarter of the image a different height, as if rising up from the ground. The first piece I glued flat onto the tangerine paper. The next piece has one layer of foam; the third piece has 2 layers; the fourth piece has 3 layers. As you look at the card from different angles, you can see each separate piece. However, together they create something whole, beautiful. Each layer rises up.

For the sentiment, I stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink onto a cream piece of paper from the Calico Country paper pack. I cut it out using the Unity Scallops & Banners {nesting dies}. I glued this flat under the flower in the bottom right corner, overlapping both pattern papers.

Finishing up the card, I trimmed any overhanging pieces from the scallop die cut flower image. I added 3 enamel dots in matching colors onto the sentiment banner. The completed card size is US A2.

I hope you enjoyed my first card of my GIU week! Comment below which details you like. Remember, comments on this post, FB or IG will put you in the running to win a gift credit to Unity Stamp Co.

Have a great day!

  3. Wow. I love this. I am so glad I came over and read your process. Brave step chopping it up but the idea of rising up being carried through in a physical way is genius. Really awesome card. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. Hugz
