Growing in Unity Day 5

Hi Everyone! It's Day 5 of my Growing in Unity week! I can't believe the last day is here. I had a lot of fun using various Unity Stamp Co. products. I wanted to show a variety of ways I like to craft. I hope you've enjoyed what I've created. Let me know which one was your favorite or inspired you the most. Remember to comment here, Facebook, or Instagram for your chance to win store credit to Unity Stamp Co.

For my last card, I used the Rectified Poppies {bkg 3/23}. I like the mixed media look. I was inspired by Pointillism and wanted to use that technique to color the image.

First, I stamped onto white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. After that dried, I used my Altenew Artist Markers to create dots in order to color the stamped image. Normally VersaFine and alcohol markers do not mix. However, with the Pointillism technique, it wasn't an issue. For areas I wanted darker, more concentrated color, I added dots closer together using the bullet nib end of the markers. For areas I wanted lighter, I had the dots farther apart. I did this technique for the entirety of the image; no brush strokes.

The markers I used for the poppies were Heart Beat (R107), Ruby Red (R318), Vineyard Berry (R218), Warm Sunshine (Y205), Honey Drizzle (Y316), Parrot (G915), Olive (G825), and Moss (G935). For the background I used Misty Morning (G011), Dew Drops (C007), Cloudy Sky (C010), and Nimbus (BG07).

I trimmed the background with my scissors and followed the uneven edges. I used the edge of my scissors to distress the edges even more. Then, I went around the card with a black brush marker.

For the sentiment, I stamped "Sending Hugs" from the Petal Post {kom 4/24} with the same Nocturne ink. I trimmed it with my scissors and popped it up with a black foam strip. I decided then that the card needed some shine. I used Glossy Accents over the smaller buds, center of the large poppies, the stems, and sentiment.

I cut a piece of Sage cardstock from Sizzix to 4.25"x5.5" and adhered the poppy panel. Finally, I added 5 red pearl stickers.

That completes my GIU week! I hope you saw something you liked or perhaps a stamp set you hadn't seen yet. Would you try any of the techniques I demonstrated this week?

Have a great day!
