Masculine Sympathy Card

Hi Everyone! Today I'm sharing with you a simple masculine sympathy card.

I was asked by my best friend's husband for a sympathy card to send to a colleague who has faced some loss recently. I wanted to create a card that was simple, but still elegant, and leaned more masculine.

I started with a 12x12 piece of pattern paper from the DCWV Urban Street collection. I love the quality and prints of DCWV paper. In fact, I have this same collection in 6x6 which I almost fully used! I like how this particular collection can be utilized for a wide array of creations. I found that the burnt Sienna color would be the right touch for this sympathy card.

I cut down the leafy pattern paper to 3.5"x4.75." For the mat layer, I cut some Harvest Gold Mirror Card from Tonic to 4"x5.25". The A2 card base is black cardstock (4.25"x5.5" folded.)

To add slight dimension, I cut 3 leaf sprigs from Concord & 9th. The springs were a part of the 2023 C9 Summer Camp box. I wanted softer leaves that didn't compete with the pattern paper, but also brought in the gold mat layer. I used vellum and the Harvest Gold Card to achieve this effect. I glued the 3 springs together, fanning them out a bit. I didn't adhere them fully flat.

I used black glitter tape across the pattern paper and bottom of the leaf sprigs. On the top right of the panel, I used the Hero Arts rub-on transfer sentiment "With Sympathy." I like using the rub-ons so I know I won't accidentally smear or place it crooked. I adhered all the layers to the black card base to complete the front.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of white cardstock with the second largest die of the Double Pierced Rectangle A2 Nested dies from The Ton. The sentiment I chose is from Unity Stamp Co. Journey with Cancer set. There are various sentiments in this set that can be used outside of cancer support which makes it very versatile.

To finish the card, I made a custom envelope with brown lighter weight paper. I stamped the Woodware Mixed Stem stamp with Macchiato ink from Catherine Pooler on the bottom left of the envelope.

I hope I've inspired you to create simple masculine sympathy cards. Have a great day!
