I Dig You Veggie Card

Hi Everyone! Today I'm participating in an Instagram hop where the theme is hayrides and fall festivals. The hop is organized by Kelly (@createwithkas). Head on over there to see some great inspiration!

For my card, I was inspired by the largest festival that occurs in this region during fall. A big part of the festival is dedicated to agriculture, including contests for the best and largest vegetables.

To start, I pulled out the Hero Arts Veggie Medley background stamp. Fun fact: this was the first background stamp I ever purchased! I stamped the background onto Neenah Desert Storm cardstock with Catherine Pooler Macchiato ink.

I colored the images with my Faber-Castell Goldfaber colored pencils. Most of the veggies had at least 2 colors to add some shading.

I also used my blending stumps and Gamsol to smooth out some of the coloring. I added slight shadowing in random places next to each veggie. I didn't necessarily follow a light source.

After I finished coloring, I used the largest of the Double Pierced A2 Nested Rectangle dies from The Ton. I took some of the Macchiato ink and ink blended the edges of the panel.

For the sentiment, I used a cut apart from the DCWV Watercolor Garden collection. I fussy cut the shape following the green lines. I adhered this to a scrap piece of vellum and fussy cut around the sentiment shape, leaving a slight border. Seeing the contrast of the kraft veggie panel and the white cut apart, I decided it was too stark and ink blended what was left on my brown blending brush onto the cut apart. I popped this up on foam and added a couple enamel dots and a cute radish Doodle-Pop from Doodlebug Design!

I hope this card inspires you to turnip the beet of your creativity! Have a great day!
