Gnome Wishes
Hi Everyone! Took a little break from social media this week. However, I wanted to share this gnome birthday card I made.
I was going through my photos when I saw I had never posted this card I made last month. The recipient loves gnomes, so I knew I wanted to use one of my favorite Creative Expressions Woodware line gnome: Little Gnome.
I stamped the gnome onto Hammermill cardstock and colored it using my Altenew Artist Markers. I fussy cut the image and went over the edges with a black marker. I adhered it to a piece of vellum and fussy cut that to create a border. To add some sparkle, I used a Scrapbook.com glitter brush for the heart.
For the background, I cut a piece of pattern paper from Brass & Bliss Craft Co. Marbled Perfection. I picked a piece that matched the gnome I colored. I cut the piece into strips and alternated the pieces front and back. That's the great thing about double sided paper! You can use both sides and they tend to coordinate. I adhered the pieces at an angle onto a piece of orange pattern paper from Honey Bee Stamps. The pattern is more subtle than the bolder teal pattern paper, so it doesn't compete. Also they are complementary colors, so they nicely pop off.
Below the gnome, I used a piece of the same orange pattern paper and stamped the sentiment from the Little Gnome stamp set. I ran an orange marker along the edges to give the piece s bit more dimension. To finish the card, I used two puffy heart stickers which matches nicely to the heart the gnome is holding.
Overall, the card was pretty simple to make. Yet, the use of complementary colors and pattern paper really make this card stand out. I hope you enjoy this creation!
