Football Gnome

Hi Everyone! I took break from hops last week, but I'm back with this football playing gnome for the Fall Friends Card Hop hosted by Kelly (@creatwithkas).

The theme for this week was Fall sports or Autumn outdoors. I've already created a few autumn scene cards, so I decided to go with the sport theme. I used a digital stamp called Gnome Friends Love Sports from Last Minute Manda. I colored it up with my Altenew Artist Markers. I added some white gel pen details to the clothes. To be honest, I thought the detail and white was too stark on the outfit and ended up going over the plaid detail with the lightest of my markers to tone it down. It also took away the shading, so for future reference I probably would have left the outfit a solid color and just did the detail on the hat.

I was a bit stumped with the background, but I saw an embossed scrap of paper with ink on my crafty table from some experimenting I was doing. I had inked up the embossing folder from Spellbinders with Concord & 9th Poppy ink. I tore the piece to give it frayed edges.

For my background panel, I used a solid turquoise piece from the Brass & Bliss Marbled Perfection paper pad that I cut to 3.75"x5.00." I decided I wanted some contrast between the turquoise panel and the 4.25"x5.5" white base. I used the same C9 ink in Poppy and swiped it across a scrap piece of white cardstock. I cut out the smallest square of my nesting dies; it has little curved corners. I adhered 2 squares to opposite corners and cut the tip of the white base to match the curve. Then, I adhered the turquoise panel and the torn embossed piece. The gnome is popped up on foam circles.

With the remaining piece of Poppy inked cardstock, I stamped the sentiment Best Gnomies. I placed the sentiment under the gnome.
